Missed it completely. Group versus individual. The swap is a benefit that everyone can use to adjust their schedule. I’ve done that ALV swap then dropped a different less productive trip to get closer to the GS trigger with more days off.
Also that means less reserve flying. Staffing is based on block hours. No SILs means more aggregate pay and less flying per reserve.
My real problem was with the company’s interpretation that the scheduling committee chairman’s support is implied thereby reducing the union’s explicit power to deny them if they pay to little. That’s reason enough to **** it down. We were on a path to relinquish power by inaction.
