I would be that dude. It’s possible but not easy...I had to schlep my butt across the Pacific multiple times to go to those bloody job fairs, all on my own dime. In the end it just happened to be a chance conversation over a beer that made the difference. I was very, very lucky but the stars aligned perfectly.
Also, for reference, I’m a US resident married to a US citizen and had almost 9 years of US 121 experience, in addition to 3000hours flying 73’s around Australia and SE Asia. The whole “only FAR121” experience requirement is BS. As long as you’re flying a commercial aircraft in ops equivalent to 121, you’re good to go.
