You need to learn some BUSINESS facts. OWNING aircraft is a double-edged sword. They cost money and they depreciate, eventually ending up as spare parts repositories in the desert. The ASSET is the codeshare flying, and United can award that to whoever they wish.

ExpressJet is doing United flying with United aircraft. Republic is doing United flying with (mostly) Republic aircraft. If United should decide to cutback their codeshare flying guess which jets get parked in the desert? HINT: it won’t be the jets belonging to the company that controls the codeshare. The aircraft that will be sitting on the dirt beside the tarmac in Kingman Arizona depreciating without bringing in any revenue. Having your own planes is a vulnerability, not an asset, when your codeshare “partner” has planes of their own.

Pick up a little business acumen of your own before you start throwing around terms like ‘idiot.’
