A great number of pilot hiring slots have been/are eaten up with special interest groups. That's a fact (females, minorities, legacy children, flow up's, military, furlough recalls). Additionally, I never stated nor insinuated that there was anything wrong with the hiring practices....it's the way of the world, even the corporate world. I promise , you won't hurt my feelings, maybe I need a reality check.....OBTW, you do know that the post started with sarcasm and funnin', however, I'll stand by most of it.
Stoki....now that you have fleshed out a little more of your background, I think you are right on track and think your approach is spot on, especially since you are are already well ensconced where you are. Even more so if you are enjoying the experience. As I posited earlier, the number of candidates like you are few, but I think that the HR dept would value your experience (you bring more to the table with your vast international experience). Combined with your Chief Pilot job( as long as it's not the chief pilot of 4 pilots) I think you are well positioned. However, I agree, more rec's would be helpful.
Not sure what some on here take offense to about what I wrote. I will reiterate.....IT IS A NUMBERS GAME! After you factor out all the special interest groups, my guess is only 25% of the slots are left. The competition is keen, but I feel positive about your chances(especially if UAL isn't your only choice)
Press on and good luck
Cheers
Thanks for the feedback, cheers man.
