It is an operational control requirement. Unless that changes I don’t see K4 flying Amazon.

My predictions? As noted in the last CP meeting, Atlas obtained the 4 400’s that we were supposed to get this year.

With the lack of 767 sim time availability, I see hiring slowing down for a bit. Most new hires will be assigned the 767, as that is where our growth is right now. The FAA has experienced some staffing issues and the ETOPS programs for everyone are behind schedule. For now expect hub freight flying.

400 new hire classes have gone from 16 back to 8, as staffing is finally catching up to airframes. More captain upgrades in the pipeline.

As the ioe pipeline empties out over the next few months, the 100 hour+ months for FO’s will be over. As the new Captains come online the same will happen for Captains.

777? Still awaiting word on who gets the first 4 DHL CMI aircraft. With ETOPS behind schedule, it may not bode well for K4. I still see us getting some of the aircraft, but we may be a 1 777 aircraft fleet for a while.

New contract negotions are right around the corner. Excellent Union leadership. Great relationship with the company. However, there will be NO BIG PAY RAISES. Very difficult for the Union to show the company how paying pilots more money makes more money for the company. Company knows most pilots will not be willing to make a lateral move and lose their current pay rate while they start over.

My point? If you are after big money, or a quick upgrade, you should look elsewhere. If you are a professional pilot who wants to see the world, work with other professional pilots who know how to have fun on the overnights, fly very well maintained aircraft, work for a company that puts your family first when crisis hits at home, and make a good living, come to K4.
