The tower instructions were "fly heading 100, runway 10L from DD, cleared for takeoff." They read it back correctly but possibly were thinking of the runway 10L when they dialed the heading in?

Sucks. I hope they get their jobs back. We make mistakes all the time. Too bad the media got a hold of it.
