How horrific of a corner must one paint themselves in with forcing the family to 5 hours in an airport overnight? Snow storms happen, line of thunderstorms happen, MX delays happen and they all ruin travel for those with paid tickets just as much as standby. I get that and totally sympathize as I’ve been on the receiving end many times. Fortunately never with children. However if you find your getting stuck in airports at the middle of the night because you’re losing big at the non rev game, then maybe time to rethink the way the family travels.

And for the suggestion about lounges, not gonna happen. Most domestic lounges seem close around 11pm and open at 5am.
