If I get sick then I'm calling out, missing trips, missing flight time, and missing money. There are reserves for a reason and if the company is short on pilots or FAs, then they should have planned better. If there aren't crews to fly, tough lesson to learn, better do something about it management.
Need to buy more wipes, hand sanitizer, and Emergen-C... starting to run out after these last two trips with sick captains.
I got sick last year, pretty sure it was from a sick flight attendant who I should have kicked off the trip. I was so upset when I had to burn my sick time, get a doctor's note for the CP office, get in recovery to make it up etc.. It was partly my fault for letting her stay on, but that's not happening again. I'm glad your bringing this up because it's not fair to everyone else and I think this happens too much.
It's hard enough staying healthy out there when you're double fisting oreo minis for breakfast in Oklahoma with no sleep from the night before, we don't need sick crews. If someone shows up sick to my flight and they're like obviously sick, I'm gonna have to be that guy that kicks them off if they're not willing to make the call, which will be lame, but whatever, we all know better than to do that.
