So, why the let down? Back then I would never associate JB with transatlantic flying - so, I’d personally view this type of additional flying as a bonus (at least for the super senior pilots who can bid it). It just surprises me because JB is clearly not a legacy with huge route variety - we are talking apples and oranges in terms of route profiles and I would expect people to know that when they signed up.

If you really want longhaul flying, Kalitta and Atlas are hiring. But the grass is rarely greener. I know longhaul pilots who are constantly fatigued and they are looking elsewhere.

Although clearly not easy, the Legacies are hiring quite a bit. I met a former JB 190 FO the other day who recently joined Delta on the 767ER, so, there are other ways to get that type of flying if you really want it.
At my interview 8-9 years ago, we were all told "wide-bodies and Europe" are "being evaluated and in the future business plan". Even said the target fleet size before they would order wide-body aircraft was "250 airframes".

There were many other stories told to pilots over the years by "leadership".

So yeah, this is all happening much slower than they *told* us it would.

Not that "leadership" promises about the future are guarantees, but you are talking about expectations, and expectations we did/do indeed have.
