Yes it fits the 26 is not an issue. Your bag ( 26 or 22) will however slowly get ripped over time as one of the ribs under the jumpseat will catch your bag every time. If this happens do not force your bag out but reach in and compress the side compartment that is facing the Captains seat.
Another brilliant design feature by Boeing, but in their defense rolling suitcases did not exist when the 737 was designed in the late 1950s or early 1960s

One thing to add. One 26 fits nicely on the bottom. You can actually stack another 26 on top but this will block the jumpseat from falling into place. A 22 on top does not cause this issue.
