There is a lot of good investment potential in the area just north of KMKE (the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee.) 5-10 minutes from the airport, lots of trendy bars/ restaurants/ coffee shops. It's an older part of the city so much of the housing units are duplex/ Polish Flat types which would lend themselves to rentals/ crash pads.

The area you describe north and west of the city is more suburban, higher cost and mostly single family. Plus it is 30-45 minutes from the airport in any kind of traffic, depending how far out you go.

The north and west sides of the city are more urban with higher crime rates, although some areas are pretty decent and might fit your needs.

The areas east and south of the airport might also fit your requirements- less hip than Bay View but still a solid, lower-middle class area with low crime, and close to the airport.

Source- 24 years as a cop in this town. After a long time lurking on APC, I finally found a thread which I'm uniquely qualified to respond to!
Thats what I said. Stay south of I-94 and that is where Bay View is.

"The areas east and south of the airport might also fit your requirements" Thats what I said. Thats where Oak Creek is.

"The north and west sides of the city are more urban with higher crime rates" Thats what I said and the area the OP was interested in. Isnt that the Sherman Park "area"? Yeah packin heat is a good idea because everyone else is. I wouldn't buy/live east of Wauwatosa.
My source is me looking out my car window and thinking F that..So we do agree after all.
