UAL has never opted for the clause and instead stuck with total number of RJ’s is capped at 90% of narrow body fleet of which 253 can be 70/76 seaters (this is overly simplified explanation of scope). If UAL bought what we call a new small narrow body our RJ fleet would be capped at 450 total (in line with DAL) and 325 could be 70/76.


I realize all that and I knew it would be addressed at some point in this discussion so thanks for bringing it up. Unfortunately for you, Kirby's MO (and perhaps ego?) isn’t one to allow a NSNB at the expense of fewer RJs.
