Have you ever seen a Boeing 757 flying well past VNE nose dive into the ground? All the wreckage WILL vaporize almost instantaneously. Most commercial airplane crashes happen at low speeds (150kts), and small rates of descent. Infact, I can't even think of a plane crash that hit the ground that happened anywhere close to 500kts (250, maybe, and that's pushing it), and some amazing rate of descent it must have been flying at!
When they investigated the lear 35 Payne Stewart died in. There were only a few peices larger than a quarter left in the hole. The airlane struck the groung at 600 knots.
