Just remember:
The guys that work the hardest move up the fastest, and:
Total Work=Actual Work + Perceived Work
It's much easier to alter the second half of that equation. Successful officers figure this out early. The other's just bust their butts for a few years, watch their contemporaries get the good orders and promote early. Disillusioned and fed up with the system, then they get out and fly for the airlines, where success is based on just staying alive.
