This is a response not necessarily to Rio, but also to any other warm weather, awesome layover we don’t go to anymore.
Just because the flight is full.... doesn’t mean we made money on it.
Sometimes the ticket price goes down below what’s economically sustainable. The seat inventory “spoils” the moment pushback begins. Better to make some money than no money, even if the seat is sold at a loss.
