Well the latest crew resources rumor is that the 717 will be consolidated to ATL sometime in the next year or two. People who are on the 717 in NY for example would be mandatorily displaced from the category in the event those rumors are true.
One of the bennys of an MD is a company-paid move (subject to some restrictions). Might be an easy way to move to Mecca if someone was so inclined.
