I think that was on the way. No, they didn't rally all the troops. Why? Because the union didn't buy in. Remember, the union is an inverted pyramid with the leadership at the bottom and the membership on top.
All groundswell movements take a bit of time to catch on.
Our paid representatives are simply reimbursed. They aren't compensated. They aren't nececarily any smarter than you. Our paid reps if you wish to call them that are line pilots we elect to do our bidding. How many reps did we recall at IACP and ALPA at CAL?
We couldn't even spell union for a while. No sense in blindly trusting what hasn't worked. the FUPM movement was three fold: Motivate the union to get off its arse. Inspire the pilots to direct union initiatives. Highlight to management and the public that we are way beyond due.
I wasn't in the FUPM movement, but I agree with the intent.
To many FU isn't disrespectful, it's just business. PM isn't disrespectful, it's just business.
Larry Kellner and Smizeck should have had FUPM billboards outside their office windows.
I put my underwear on backwards and wear inverted rally cap when coming from behind in a baseball game. It's my secret weapon. Call it PSYOPS, or whatever.
having a bracelet is not unlike a tie tac. It demonstrates unity. It's an outward demonstration that galvanizes and unites. No problem for me. I see the wisdom in it. We tied yellow ribbons around trees during the Iranian hostage crisis. Didn't help them get home any sooner, but was unifying around and about a common enemy and a common cause none the less.
