Ding, ding, ding! Give that man a prize. If you get your time early as a 175 FO, you will (currently) be forced to upgrade on the 145, or at bare minimum if in DFW have to take the 175 in ORD.
Of course, the company WANTS you to preference bid so they don’t have to pay you the $8K to displace you.
Things will probably slow down on the forced upgrades at some point, but there are enough that will pimp themselves to get the 175 that they will give up that $8K.
Either way. You fly as an FO, you will be reserve as captain. You stay on reserve as an FO, you can spend LESS time on reserve as CA. Either way, unless you live in base, reserve WILL suck (even more).
