Not at all. Just bid it and if there is an opening and you have the seniority then you will be awarded that position. Once you have the award they will set you up for training. This is true for any new position.
I have always had an international qual so I’m not sure what is entailed going from domestic to international but I’m pretty sure it’s a quick fix, especially for an F/O.
