And, fyi, a base transfer is a change in category. Category is defined as "the combination of a pilot’s position and base." (see 2.A.41 or 22.A.6 for reference).
I think you would keep your vacation even if you didn't select it on the AE bid. That selection is choosing to forgo pay protection by allowing pilots junior to you going to the same category to train ahead of you in order for you to avoid training over your vacation. Only switching bases requires no training, so the conflict could never exist.
7 C.7.a. just says you will retain the vacation
7 C.7.b.2. is the reference for choosing to retain a vacation on an AE bid when training is required
