Yes, you're right about that. And the political buildup in a case like this might be just the catalyst for a juror to go there. Maybe that's why he's doing those interviews... to poison the jury pool against the government.

Of course if they have a solid case, and it's just a wildcard juror, they can always re-try if the jury hangs. More than once too.
