Among my father’s advice to “do as I say, not as I’ve done”, was “if you marry, marry up”.
This advice from a man that went to the alter 7 times ! He died pretty much broke, and had turned down a marriage proposal from one of the wealthiest women in the country in 1950. He said she was just too homely.
Instead he married models, stewardesses, and dancers.
My couldn’t stand him.
