The MD11 does not tolerate poor handling, but is neither difficult nor an "animal." It's easy to land, straight forward, flies about like anything else, and has a narrower tolerance range but is not difficult nor demanding. Gusting conditions are nearly a non-issue thanks to the autothrottles; keep it on profile, fly it to the runway and land it like anything else.

Whatever you've heard about no second chances is completely untrue.
