Because until you are a line holder you will probably only achieve 76 hrs of pay a month. That’s reserve guarantee of 73 hrs plus 3 hrs for 5 unused short calls. FOs on other fleets can and do earn more than 76hrs x (wide body pay).
When I was on the 756 Domestic in SFO, I did the math and 73 hrs. of wide body pay was equivalent to roughly 87.5 hours of pay and 76 hrs. was roughly equivalent to about 92 hours of wide body pay.
