I’m sure you are yet to experience the intimidation that CS tries to put on crews to extend or be given a MA? I’m sure you will come back with ‘but you can fatigue’. True but you shouldn’t have to, and you also risk not getting paid by FT’ing.
What they did to that crew was 100% wrong. And they made the airline less safe at the same time. When pilots can't trust the ASAP process, they won't use it as much. Not good.
I've never been extended, so clearly it's not a very common problem. I've had a couple of good arguments with CS over reserve assignments. I've read them the contract a few times. I've always been right and they've done the right thing in the end.
