On a 90 degree intercept for 16R, cleared for the approach, about 2-3 miles from course... CA is still in HDG mode. I ask if he wants NAV. No response. I ask are you going to turn? "Oh..." If he hadn't of responded and selected NAV I was about to take the plane. ATC asked if we were turning because at the 12 position on the other side, another jet was coming at us. We went slightly through course. He just wasn't paying attention or couldn't focus. I thought one time thing, okay...
But then again coming in on final, different approach, his head clearly wasn't in it. I knew we weren't even close to being stable up ahead, said we're not going to make it early on. At 1000' we were 40 knots fast, flaps 3 (he just then called flaps 5), I called unstable.
Had that not been the end I would I would have called scheduling and a CP about him being sick and the complete lack of focus.
Pilots, if you're that damn sick and can't focus, call out!
Did you bring it up during debrief items?
