That is pretty much how it went down. Big Sky was doomed from the start because of the POS contract that they signed with DAL...nearly impossible for any carrier to be successful with what they signed. That is why Commutair opted out of the bid. They wanted the flying, but refused to get involved with the terrible offering. Smart management = smart decisions.
