It lays the framework for how airline pilots have been paid since the air mail days. It’s based on weight and speed. It might help you understand why a 777 pays better than an e145.
Actually, back in the day quite a few airlines paid based off of longevity, not aircraft. UPS is the only airline I know that still does this. Seniority gets you aircraft type and QOL changes. Everyone is paid the same across the entire UPS fleet based off time of service.
