I wonder if Boeing will significantly delay the 797 for the time being. They have to fix and prove once again that the MAX is a good aircraft, they are also trying to finish the 777X and they had a few issues with the Air Force tanker. I donīt know if their BOD would be wanting to sink so much capital on a brand new clean sheet aircraft.
Every day the 797 decision is delayed, more Airbus 321XLRs will be ordered... Boeing is late to the game AGAIN. The MAX is a pig with lipstick and it was slapped together to compete with the Airbus NEO - again, Airbus was eating Boeing's lunch and Boeing was forced to act. Boeing should have been designing a clean-sheet 737 replacement YEARS AGO. Who knows if/when the 797 will ever fly. Boeing has been complacent for years.
