If you look at the way the airline is run, the MOST important thing is blockout on time. Woe to you that is the reason a flight is late. Every section will track when things happen so that if it is late they can point the finger at someone else. Are there problems, yes. But the biggest part of the problem is unrealistic turn times because RJs (except the 175) don’t have room for anything bigger as carry on than small personal sized item. That means MOST carry ons have to be gate checked. Takes time. Pax are waiting in the jet bridge for their bags so can’t load the next flight. Is that any workers fault? No! There are things that can be done to help, but it comes back to unrealistic times because of the process itself. So everyone is under pressure to fix a problem they have very little control over. And if you’re the last one without a chair when the music stops, all fingers get pointed at you. It all comes back to culture which isn’t changing anytime soon.
