My concern with Dickson has nothing to do with KP, but his position on FOQ, 117, etc. He is a good and reasonable man doing the bidding of his bosses while balancing that sometimes successfully and other times not with the needs of the pilot group. He certainly is a better choice than a political hack with no knowledge of the industry or Trumps Pilot.
He definitely represents the industrial solution side of the equation. I expect we will see intelligent and well articulated initiatives against the aforementioned areas where ALPA has fought and won against positions that weaken the piloting profession.
Apparently Moak, Canol, and some others have been advocating for him in DC. I have no doubt that he would be good for Delta and the airline industry, which is not the same thing as the piloting profession.
The Moak Group has previous ties to the RAA, and his position regarding FOQ is still unknown as a private lobbying group. Under Dickson DAL did advocate for its own FOQ carveout and up to 9:45 domestic flight time.
Considering that tangle of people and interests, I’m relieved that they are “private citizens” now.
