Air Wisconsin is supposedly opening a base in RDU this coming summer, and I thought that CHQ had a base in GSO, but maybe they've closed it. Check APC to verify.
I'm not certain if US Air is giving preferential interviews/hiring right now, but I do know my sim partner from PDT (CA upgrade) just got hired by US Air for a Mar/Apr class date.
FWIW, I heard that ASA just got a new TA and more money. Again, check APC for that info.
Just trying to throw some info out there for you so you can make a better informed decision. If it were me, (my opinion) I'd stay away from US Air and their wholly-owned companies.
Preferential interviews are going on. Piedmont isn't a terrible place to be. The Dash is a great airplane to fly, despite being "ancient relics" that will "trap you at slow speeds," they're great airplanes to fly. If you'd like to become a better pilot, and learn some stuff feel free to consider Piedmont. Upgrade time RIGHT NOW is quite high, but that should be coming down rather quickly due to 100 preferential interviews at mainline, high turnover, and the general hiring trend among the majors. I'm not sure how the 65 rule will affect Piedmont itself, but hopefully it won't have much impact.
We do have EWN, ROA, and CHO bases - those are the closest to Charlotte.
The company is STILL looking at buying new aircraft. We're on the Airways back burner right now, I think, while mainline tries to sort out all of the stuff with the East and West. They're looking at Q400s and ATRs (*praying for Q400s*).
Piedmont does have a pretty decent contract - especially in comparison with other regionals. If you'd like any more specific information feel free to PM me.
Good luck in your search and decision.
