How is this a surprise? It's 99.9% (less $0.01) the same pay rates PSA and PDT got? They lost their retention bonus as well.
They are not "reneging" on the retention bonus, it was always 100% company discretion.
This is why putting that money to pay rates is so much better - they can't be taken away unilaterally.
