As I said, it's a method for those that are lacking in other areas to score enough to get the computer to select you for an interview. I personally didn't have the type but I had just about every other box checked.

If you have many of the other boxes checked off then sure, don't waste the money. But if you're lacking in other areas and can swing the cost then it's worth it to help get you selected by the computer. I know of two pilots here that couldn't get an interview and as soon as they got the type they were selected. Of course this was a few years ago so YMMV.
