I'm planning on jumpseating on an Alaska flight this week, but I will have a bag with me that will need to be checked. Is this possible? Jumpseating procedures tell me to list with the gate agent, but not sure if I should try checking the bag at the counter first, or if I should just go through KCM with it and have them gate check it. I've brought a ski bag with skis, boots, and poles with me many times while on a jumpseat pass on Alaska, as well as their sister company, Horizon. I've simply checked in at the ticket counter. No issues ever.
