To the OP. Here was my reasoning, YMMV. I'm bidding about 35% as a BOS 320 FO. I don't generally do weekends or red eyes and usually then by choice. I get good three and four day trips and live in base, albeit a two hour drive each way so.....

I was pretty gung ho to finally bid left seat 190. I bid it on the last system bid with a 65% qualifier but just missed that. In the end I'm actually relieved about the result.

Given the reduction in force by end of next year on the 190 CA side, the loss of some of the EPS and premium pay for reserves, etc. I have decided to stay in the bus. I have young kids at home. I enjoy the ability to control my schedule, and I like being home weekends and holidays. The difference in pay, once all that extra stuff goes away, in 190 CA and Bus FO, was not enough to entice me to lose those things, considering the realities of a declining fleet. A couple extra days of my choosing at work each month and most of that difference goes away. Not all but most.

That was my reasoning for what its worth. It may prove to be wrong, the 190 may not go away as fast as planned. The next contract might change the pay. But based on what we have now that's what worked for my family and I.

Now if you are senior to me as a bus FO in Boston, disregard all the above and bid any other seat. .
