It’s been discussed here before, but I hate the search function too, lol!, so here it goes.
It’s real hard to get into unless you know someone in the business, or you get lucky.
I didn’t do it, and when I owned a business, I started my son without him going to one, but it seems as though most go to an Ag school. Talking to the insurance people, I think it’s probably going to be a requirement in most cases.
You’ll probably have to load planes for a season, being mechanically inclined is bonus points. You’ll find that it’s hard work with long hours in hot weather and few days, if any, off during the busy season. That busy season and how long it lasts depends on the location.
Once you finally get a seat, ie “pilot job”, you’ll find that it’s harder than it looks. Some people love it and some quickly figure out that it’s not for them.
If your willing to work, the pay can be fantastic, and in a lot of locations the cost of living is relatively low so the money goes a long way, but there is no guarantees of what you’ll make.
