So how did this not honor seniority?
They will argue that a base trade doesn’t follow seniority because a more senior pilot on another piece of equipment has to wait for a vacancy bid. This guy probably wouldn’t have made the cut under a vacancy, but this is allowed in the contract, and seniority was followed under this section. I have no problem with pilots exercising this section of the contract for their benefit any more than those who are senior enough to make a killing on premium pay trips.
