It would be interesting to have the DPEs thoughts here. I wonder if you would agree with him if he said ‘I don’t know what is wrong this this applicant. He just doesn’t seem to come prepared’.
Point being, to emphasize what others are harping on, your pilots on interview boards likely have either civilian or military instructor time and possibly have some type of training/standards background and will not give you a pass on the whole ‘there was something wrong with the DPE’ mantra.
You yourself say you are a checkairman at a P141 school.
What would you think of a student who professes you must have been having a tough week when you didn’t pass that student pilot on some stage check?
