You mean put something like gold Bond directly on the ball, or on your hand then touch the ball? But will the next pilot be upset you did that? Does that stuff go away?
I personally use the gold bond spray. When using the spray, you are able to spray the underside of each ball you spray. The ball underside seams to gunk and funk up more often than the top of the ball. Using the spray keeps the mess down when powdering each underball!!
