I think it is too early to tell if contracting will get a rotary only guy to the LEGACY airlines. The rotor to airline movement is still in its infancy. I know of rotor guys who are starting to get hired by the likes of Frontier and jetblue after some time spent flying 121 regional. I personally do not know of anyone that has gone from ISR to the big airlines without lots of fixed wing time or military fixed wing time. With that being said, I think contracting is a great way to build up time and money. It also opens up some opportunities not readily available to the average pilot group.
