I have been reading a lot in different sections of APC and it got me thinking. If in fact the rumors are true and Compass is in talks with United about getting flying from them, there are a few big pieces in play that probably need to be worked out first. It seems likely that Mana Air will be the umbrella under which all United RJ flying will end up falling. However before United moves forward and signs on anything they probably want to wait till they get a deal done with their pilots so that they will know what their scope limit will be going forward (and if there deal will need to include flow up/down). It seems like scope is the big topic that United is trying to work out with their pilot group. my guess is that once United comes to an agreement with its pilots, the future plans for Mana air will become much more clear and so too will the future of Compass and what roll if any it might play. This would seems like the only logical reason why they can't even give us a general answer as when there might be some new news, because they have no idea when the preceding steps in the process will be completed. My feeling is that Compass does have a general agreement like RT said with United but they can't work out the final details of a contract yet until United deals with the things listed above. Either that or management is just completely full of it and lying to our face to keep planes moving till the doors close.
