Same with my interview group. The important thing for him was that he was
comfortable and confident (not cocky or arrogant) in his own skin.
I don't think color or style matter nearly as much as fit and neatness. With few exceptions, everyone wants to see that you
care about the interview enough to
prepare for it down to your clothes choice.
Be sure to put on your intended interview clothes (down to your socks and shoes) several days/weeks before your interview and wear it around for several hours; the length of the interview, perhaps. Keep your coat on for a while. Take it off and be 'jacketless' for a bit.
Do you feel good in the suit? Does it pull at the shoulders? Does it pull at your waist? Have you gained (or lost) a bunch of weight since the last time you wore it? Do you look good in the shirt/tie both with the coat on (buttoned and unbuttoned), and without it? If you
don't feel good in the suit, either get it tailored or get a new one.
As stressful as the interview day can be, there is no sense being both stressed AND uncomfortable.
