Well, at the time I knew it was going to be awhile until I went to a regional. It was '02-'03 when I finished training...regionals weren't hiring, the opposite actually. Furloughed regional pilots were coming back to instruct, and I taught at a small FBO while waiting in a hiring pool for 8 months to instruct at my university. I figured it would be a few years until hiring started again, so I decided to get the masters. It was also a good backup if the airline route continued to go south. Once I started teaching full time for the university, they paid for the MBA so money wasn't a concern.

I don't have the inside scoop at any hiring depts, so I'm not sure how much an advantage checking that box gives you. Thus far it's not been enough to push my app over the interview threshold.
