If you really want to fly for a living try a 135 place. If you’re 55, and don’t have another source of income, you might not see the return on flying for a commuter. You said you learned to fly in the Navy, if you have a few thousand Navy FW hours, a fresh 121 type and currency will likely get you a call to at least an LCC before too long. Just have to suck it up until then.
Former Helo Navy Helo guy with only 600 fixed wing hours, 4000 hours TT. You're right I may have to suck it up. Good reality check! I appreciate the info.
