Do you think they’re going to upgrade a lot of people right now when they don’t have enough First Officers for the other seat? Then again, they could always make reserve Captains fly in the right seat while they wait for more new hires to arrive, but that’s awfully expensive, considering the company has done away with Red Flag incentives to cover open time. I’m also concerned with the quality of new hires now. I’m not sure other companies that offer more are receiving the same type of applicants.
The upgrade will definitely drop below 2 years by the end of the year. There’s no if. It’s up to management and they are already bragging about it. They will do it for recruiting purposes whether it makes sense or not. They have already demonstrated they will hand out however many CA awards necessary to get the times where they want them.

Low upgrade will make this place much more attractive. No one comes to a regional expecting good QOL. The overriding idea is get the time and get out. Low upgrade times are extremely attractive.
