I really tried to stay out of this... but how??? The priority that UAL put out was what I assumed it was all along. You still have priority in your own metal. The only real change was UAL giving those carriers who exclusively flew UAL feeder priority over regional pilots who flew for multiple carriers. This makes sense. Why in the world should UAL put a pilot who may be going to “work” for DAL or AAG priority over a pilot going to “work” for UAL?? This is how it used to be in regionals where I worked, I just assumed it applied to UAL as well.
Some of us have been around long enough to remember when the JS was not assumed. Some carriers (including my regional), didn’t have it. The pilots at my regional (ASA) actually gave up negotiating capital to get it. After 9/11 it was gone again. Now you’re going to tell me my old regional that fought for the jump seat you now enjoy isn’t welcome on yours??? Go stick it.
