I don't know anyone in the hiring process but I have seen how ExpressJet pilots are now watched much closer.
Now, your concern
should be what if United cuts SkyWest's contract, causing furloughs, and shifts the flying to another regional? But you don't see that as a possibility because you're not able to figure out how it would be implemented.
That whole pilot shortage thing at the regional level is solved by SkyWest furloughees looking for a job with another carrier that got a bunch of former OO flying.
