Except if it were me, I wouldn’t be laughing. I’d be calling my reps and putting up a fit that they aren’t only making fools of the whole company, they’re ruining my chances of getting hired. If you think the pilot interviewers don’t care, you’re insane. And if you think their opinion of you doesn’t matter to HR, you’re ignorant. Think they’ll tell HR that they don’t like you because of all this? I don’t. I think they’ll quietly throw your chances away and say that you seem like you’d be hard to work with.
I have called my SAPA representatives three times this weekend. Remember that this news came out on Friday so there has been practically little to no time for our pilot group to adequately respond to this. I know UAL / UAX guys are outraged about this but try not to so quickly judge every pilot here because there are a handful of us that are against this and many that plan to accept jumpseaters despite threats from SAPA.
