Get him through his certs, get him to a regional ASAP. Once there and building hours, get him working on a cheap online degree from a reputable university. I would highly recommend NOT getting an aviation degree... a degree in finance or real estate or something like that. Diversity is a benefit in case he loses his medical, gets laid off, decides to change careers later, etc.
